Perhonen (‘butterfly’ in Finnish)

Poppana is traditional Finnish weaving style

Finnish Poppana weaving. Poppana weaving is a type of weaving in which the cloth is cut into bias. This gives the surface a velvety structure when it is woven and finished. The poppana made from the byssus is sewn into the byssus to make a cushion. The colours come out in a delightful way, and the four edges come together like the wings of a butterfly, hence the name.

フィンランドのポッパナ織り。ポッパナ織りは裂織りの一種ですが、布をバイヤスにカットするのが特徴です。そのため織り上げて仕上げると表面にビロードのようなストラクチャーが得られます。バイヤスで作るポッパナをバイヤスに縫い合わせてクッションにしました。色の出方が楽しい。４つの辺が集まる部分がまるで蝶の羽根のようだな、とこの名前を付けました。
